Every journey helps keep a child in school.
The Little Oasis Foundation is our own charity, a registered Tanzanian NGO. $25 from every Barafu traveller goes to it, paid by us, not added to your price. Its first programmes begin this year.

Four founding programmes
Public school in Tanzania is free, but uniforms, books, transport, meals and exam costs still keep children at home. The foundation starts at one partner school near Moshi and Arusha.

Covers the costs that keep a student out of class, with a mentor for each.
Oasis Meals
A daily school meal
Children who eat at school come to school and can concentrate.
Oasis Health
Water and hygiene
Clean drinking water, handwashing stations, hygiene kits for girls and health checks.
Oasis Reading Rooms
Books and a quiet room
A library corner and reading clubs, built with visiting school groups.
How we protect the children
We do not run or visit orphanages. Guests may visit the partner school only by arrangement, in school hours, with staff present. We publish photos of children only with written consent from their parents or guardians, and never with their names and location together.
How we report
The foundation publishes its targets for the year and updates progress every quarter. An annual report will show where every dollar goes.
