Payment and cancellation terms

Booking and payment

1. All services are subject to availability and are guaranteed only once we confirm them in writing.
2. Your booking is secured by a deposit, based on the type of journey:
   • Kilimanjaro climbs, private days and The Reset: a deposit of 10% of the total price for each traveller. The balance is paid on arrival in Tanzania.
   • Flying safaris, Luxe journeys, beach stays and horseback, helicopter or yacht experiences: a deposit of 30% of the total price for each traveller. The balance is due 60 days before arrival, because lodges, camps and airlines require full payment in advance.
3. If you book within 60 days of arrival, the full price is due when you book.
4. Deposits and balances can be paid by bank transfer or through one of our secure online payment links. A balance due on arrival can also be paid in US dollars cash or by credit card.
5. Card payments carry a 4% bank fee. Cash must be clean, undamaged US dollar notes printed in 2013 or later; older or damaged notes cannot be accepted.
6. If a payment is not received when due, Barafu Tours may cancel or reschedule the booking.

Cancellation and rescheduling

1. Deposits are not refunded. If you cancel, we hold your deposit as credit for 24 months, so you can reschedule your journey within that time.
2. If you cancel after paying the balance, we refund whatever our lodges, camps, airlines and partners return to us, less your deposit. Alternatively, we can hold the full amount as credit for 24 months.
3. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation.

Prices

1. All prices are quoted and paid in US dollars unless stated otherwise.
2. Prices may change until your booking is confirmed.
3. Prices are per person for the itinerary quoted. Unless stated otherwise they include: accommodation as specified; national park and reserve entrance fees; ground transport; domestic flights where shown; driver-guide fees; permits where included; three meals a day as specified, often with one packed lunch or picnic; drinking water during safaris and climbs (not at lodges or camps); tea and coffee twice a day on safari; and game drives throughout your safari.
4. Prices do not include personal expenses, travel insurance, laundry, meals and drinks not stated, passport and visa fees, tips and gratuities, or international flights.

Accommodation

1. Accommodation depends on the location and the level you choose, and may be a camp, tented camp, lodge, guest house or hotel.
2. Before your booking is confirmed, we may substitute accommodation of a similar standard for the one shown in an itinerary.
3. Upgrades requested after confirmation carry a supplement and depend on availability.
