Rongai Gate to Simba Camp

A short walk through pine forest and farmland near the Kenyan border.
- Day 2
Simba Camp to Second Cave
2,600 m → 3,450 m
Steady climb onto the moorland with Kibo ahead.
- Day 3
Second Cave to Kikelewa Camp
3,450 m → 3,600 m
A short day that helps acclimatisation.
- Day 4
Kikelewa to Mawenzi Tarn
3,600 m → 4,330 m
Up to a small lake beneath the jagged spires of Mawenzi.
- Day 5
Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut
4,330 m → 4,720 m
Across the Saddle to Kibo Hut for an early night.
- Day 6
Summit, then down to Horombo
4,720 m → 5,895 m
Midnight start via Gilman's Point to Uhuru Peak, then down to Horombo Hut.
- Day 7
Horombo to Marangu Gate
3,720 m → 1,860 m
Descend through the forest on the Marangu trail and back to your hotel.
